I have no idea where to start

Postby Hanshiro on Thu May 08, 2008 1:25 am

My girlfriend lives in Canada, and Im looking to move there. Shes a citizen, but Im from the US. I speak perfect english, graduated Highschool and I have a place to stay. But I dont have a job offer or anything, and I barely have enough money to get there. What are the requirements for a work visa, and how would I go about getting one? Im pretty clueless at the moment.

Oh, and I went to get a passport and was told I didnt need one to get into Canada, is that true?

I'm in the same situation, I'm also a US citizen, and my bf lives in Canada. Really the only difference is that I would have a job (I'm going to transfer from my store here to the one there), but I also don't know what I would need to live there and work.

When I visit, I'm asked for my passport, though a birth certificate may work too. Thats what I used years ago when I went to Mexico. Though personally, I think a passport is better, just in case you want to visit other countries that will require one.
