I have a job, i have a letter LMO exempt, what next?

Hi,

I have a letter from the Canadian Government that states the following:

''I have reviewed your request for an opinion that the above stated position is exempt from the requirement for a Labour Market Opinion. It appears that this position may be exempt from the requirement to obtain a LMO for a work permit under: C-50 Canadian Interests: charitable or religious work.

The Foreign worker to whom you have offered the above noted position may request a work permit at a port of entry upon arrival in Canada. Please not that this letter constitutes an opinion only based on the information you have provided for review. the final decision will be made by the officer at the port of entry.''

The job I have is at a Summer Camp from June 10 - Nov 15 2011. Do i apply for my visa at the border with all the documents needed such as that letter, police check? Or do I have to apply for the Visa from the UK?

The type of letter that you are describing would typically derive from an inland office of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and constitutes an advanced opinion of the eligibility of a given case for a LMO exemption. These are not approvals per se, as the official at the port of entry is the final determinant of eligibility; such a positive opinion would typically mean that the case has a very high probability of success at the POE however.

Although an application can be submitted in the UK, delays are long. The information provided suggests a POE application is viable.
