HRSDC & LMO exempted Work permit For IT persons

Postby muz on Mon Jul 30, 2007 12:21 pm

Hi there. I just checked CIC website and its clearly mentioned that

"To fill critical shortages in Canada’s software industry, Canada has a simplified entry process for workers whose skills are in high demand in that industry.

Under this process, no confirmation letter from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) is necessary for specific jobs for which finding a foreign worker will not have a negative impact on Canadian or permanent-resident job seekers and workers.

This means that if you are coming to Canada to work in one of the jobs listed below, you do not need a letter from HRSDC, and your work permit application may be processed more quickly."

Full details are at CIC website

I am in Pakistan, and have a 4 years BS degree in computer science + around 3 years of software development experience and 7.0 in IELTS.

I applied on variou job sites and finally got a success and have just recieved a job offer from the company which is based in Alberta, Canada.

After going through CIC website, it sounds like i don't need HRSDC approval and LMO papers. Am i right ? please help me out of my confusion

Based on the above relaxation, I am going to apply for Canadian Work permit based on above statement - So can any one tell me what kind of proof should i submit with my WP form, so as to show them that i I qualify for "NOC 9990.5" ?

Can i include a cover letter and explain the reason why i didn't get HRSDC approval , or what other method will be good ? so they just don't reject my application because of NO-HRSDC letter .

Regarding documents, i Got the offer letter via email, can i just print it out and attach with the WP form , or do i need my company to AIR MAIL me ?Also for other documents do i need to submit all ORIGINALS or just the photocopy of all ; except Passport ( which is sure to be submitted in original form) .

Thank you very much and sorry for writing this long, But i am in great need of your help as the company has only given me 2-3 months to join them there and "2-3 months" is very short time for CIC here in Pakiatan.

Looking forward for your help

Hussain

Working in Canada

Postby laursre on Tue Jul 31, 2007 2:41 am

Hi Hussain,

I helped my niece and her husband come to Canada under a temporary wrking permit and they got the working Visa from Canadian mbassy in their country without the LMO. I don't know if it was an error or not but soonest they got to Canada the oficialities gave him the working permit, without the LMO. I have to say though that they were helped with all their paperworks by an Immigration Consultant here in Canada.

I hope this will help you

Hi Hussain

I am also trying to find a job in Canada, but when the employer or recruiting staff calls me they ask whether I am legally allowed to work in Canada. When I say I need a work permit / sponsorship they dont get back to me after that. Can I know what did you answer them when they asked you abt visa? I am residing in US right now. I am into BI for the past 4 years. I am not sure what is needed to get a work permit.

Hi jjj, Actually i am a consultant and do projects for offshore clients, One of that client offered me a job. I haven't got my work permit yet And i am also bit confused if only job offer letter is sufficient or not. People say its mandatory to have LMO but in my research i found that SIX fields are exempted from LMO

i can't type website address here but u can find on CIC website

Working Temporarily in Canada > WHO CAN APPLY -> Information technology workers

Check if BI fits in these categories and let me know

let me know and we can then move forward on this

Hello Elve,

Can you please be kind enough to tell me details of the Immigration Attorney in Canada who helped your niece and her husband. I'd like to go the process which is working :)

Thanks in advance for your reply..
