A little background of our situation. My wife got a job offer in Calgary as a registered nurse and at the moment we are waiting for the LMO to proceed with the work visa application. Me on the other hand will be applying for a spousal work permit and I think it will be an open work permit as her job fall on category NOC A. We are Filipino national and we have been living in Ireland for the last 8 years. We have a daughter who is nearly 1 y/o which hold an Irish passport. My questions are:

1. can we apply for a pemanent status, under skilled worker class, while waiting for the Work visa? If yes where do we need to apply in the UK or in the Philippines? Or wait until we have arrived in Calgary and where should we apply? - or is there a period you need to stay in canada before you become eligible to apply for a permanent status.

2.with regard to our daughter what visa will she be under, I am assuming she will become our dependent. just wanna make sure that this is actually right.

Apologies for having so many questions. I would like to get correct information as much as I could before leaving for Canada, hopefully at the end of the 2008 fingers crossed :D !! I would be obliged if somebody can clarify things for me!!
