grace period

Postby Eva on Wed Aug 29, 2007 11:04 pm

Dear administrator,

currently i'm holding a Post-graduate work permit, and my employer just sent out the application for LMO last week, but my permit will expire in mid-sept...so my questions are:

1) is there any grace period that i can still work/stay in canada while i'm waiting for LMO?
2) actually i'm a high school teacher, is medical examination necessary in my case?
3) if LMO is negative, is there any grace period i can stay in canada meanwhile my employer files the claim again? or i must leave canada once the old permit expires?

your answers will be highly appreciated..thanks very much

There is no grace period allowed for a candidate seeking an LMO. An individual without a valid work permit (or other permission) is not allowed to work in Canada. The only exception is in the case that an application for extension or change-of-terms is filed, in which case your status in Canada remains intact until such time as the case is decided.

Teaching occupations do generally require medical examinations.
