Getting Married

Postby neko-nara on Wed Feb 14, 2007 11:11 am

I'm wondering, what exactly my fiance has to do to be able to work in canada, He is a US citizen, and is moving here for us to get married. Will he ba able to work right away? what do we have to do? and how do we go about doing it? Neither if us know where to even start!

He has also spent serveral weeks here on different occasions, can this help us in any way? either as common-law. or conjucal partners? to let him work sooner?

Getting married will not, in itself, grant permission to work in Canada. Permanent resident status would have to be sought to grant full employment status. A temporary work permit can be sought if a job offer exists prior to approval of the permanent resident application.
