Forms to be Used for Open Work Permit Application

Postby uole2025 on Wed May 18, 2011 10:52 am

I am presently here at Alberta under a SEMI-SKILLED position and will apply for new work permit because I have received a job offer which is classified under Skilled Category or NOC "B" from a new employer.

Assuming that my work permit for new employer is approved, can I get my wife and 5-yr old son (who are presently in the Philippines) through an OPEN WORK PERMIT (OWP) considering the new work permit is under SKILLED class? If so, then I really am at a total lost for the right form to use. Shall my wife use the form "Work Permit Application Made Outside Canada" to follow me here? Also, does she need proof of funds in that case? What other supporting documents does she need to include to support her application for OWP? Moreover, any idea on how long the processing will take?

Lastly, how about my 5-year son? what form will we accomplish for him?

I really am praying that I would be able to bring my family here in Canada. Thank you!

The IMM1295 is the correct form. Specific document requirements for such a case should conform to the instructions issued by the Manila visa office.

Thanks Sir David for your response as to using IMM1295 for Open Work Permit Application. But how about my 5-year old son, obviously he can't work yet. Will he accomplish the same form? or a declaration as accompanying family member will suffice? How much do I have to pay for my son's visa? Or do I have to apply him for a visit visa?

CIC website only provides information regarding open work permit for spouse and qualified children. How about dependant child who is not capable of working yet? Can I also bring my son here? I really hope so.

Hope you could shed light on this. Thanks
