hi Roberto:

This forum offers advice on finding work in Canada, but we don't
actively search for positions for people posting here, it is more advice on searching for a job in Canada.

What kind of job are you looking for?

There are Nursing positions available in Canada, but the process takes some time as you have to get your credentials approved by the Province you wish to immigrate too. I suggest you look up the relevant Provincial agencies and contact them for advice.

I have placed Nurses in Canada before and it is a long process depending on your English skills and credentials.

hi Kamran:

One always has to be careful when an employer offers you a job like this. Have they asked you for any money? Have they explained the Temporary Workers Permit (TWP) process to you? You can email the details and I can advise further.

Most employers in Canada are unaware of the TWP rules, so everyone please be careful when an employer says they are willing to hire you. There is a process for TWP's, and that process can never be violated. The employer has to be legitimate, and the offer must be approved by Service Canada.

Sir,

I am a retired Government Officer from Pakistan. I am 55, healthy and fit. I have vast experience of more than twenty years in Administration, Human Resources, Marketing and Estate. I am Graduate and can speak, read and write English fluently. After retirement, I am thinkiing to settle in Canada for pleasant atmosphere and good future. I am keenly interested to apply for a Work Permit, but Work Permit will only be issued when I will produce Job offer from any Canadian employer.

Sir, I request you to very kindly help and guide me.

Sir:

You seem to have the facts already. One can only get a work permit in Canada with a job offer that has been approved by Service Canada via an LMO (Labour Market Opinion).

The advice I can give you is that most employers do not know that this is how it works. They think you need a work permit first, then they can offer you a job. Its the other way around, and you will have to explain that to almost every employer you are able to speak with.

So your goal is to find a suitable employer in Canada who is willing to offer you work and go through the LMO process. There are many obstacles and it is hard when you are outside of the country, but it can be done with the right strategies.

First and foremost, your CV must be up to Canadian standards. Almost every CV I see is not, and I cannot stress the importance of an excellent CV before you start your search. This will apply to almost everyone who is reading this post. Your CV must be excellent for a Canadian employer to even consider you for work.

Please forward your CV to me and I can advise on whether it needs to be upgraded to Canadian standards,

with regards,

Andrew

There is a list of 38 categories favourable to foreign workers (NOC List), but the rules do not change if your profession happens to be on the list. The list is not fluid enough however, and does not always reflect the real demand in Canada. With a legitimate job offer and the acceptance by Service Canada, one can get a work permit in Canada whether or not your job category is on the list.

Andrew, the 38 occupations that you refer to are for Federal Skilled worker immigration (i.e., permanent resident) applications. They do not have any bearing whatsoever on foreign worker (i.e., temporary work permit) applications.

Hi,
Can I honestly rely on an agency to find a job and living accommodation for me, especially after paying the required fees and what are the advantages and disadvantages of using this method?

Thanks.

hi Patricia:

There are some that are trustworthy, but you must be very careful. The thing to watch for is if they offer to guarantee you a job. Nobody can offer a guarantee in any reasonable way at all. There are simply too many variables that a recruiter will encounter to offer a guarantee.

I can provide further information to you if you email me at this forum.

all the best

Dear Sir:

I am interested in finding a temporary job in Canada as a line cook. I have been working as a chef in a restaurant that mainly serving to Canadians and other foreigners for 3 years. A few of my friends are working in Fort McMurray. Do they still hire foreign workers in service industry? I've heard some part in Newfoundland also hire temporary cooks. Which city would that be?

Thank you
