I am presently on work permit which is about to expire on april 1st 2010. I apllied for extension of work permit ( worker- W1) on march 2010. I need to travel to INDIA on may 21st 2010. Can i get the work permit and TRV extended by may 20?

Concern:
should i wait for the approval of the extension of work permit and apply for extension of TRV or can i apply for Extension of TRV in the middle of proceesing of work permit.
like 2 weeks from now stating the embassy that i applied for work permit extension and will be providing the extended work permit . Please advise ASAP.

You are referring to a work permit and an entry visa. The work permit can be extended within Canada (typically a 90 day process which confers implied status) but the entry visa cannot. A new entry visa can only be sought via a visa office outside of Canada.

For the reply. i do understand that we should apply for entry visa only from a visa office outside of Canada. I already applied for extension of work permit . now my question is should i wait for the work permit to get extended and then apply for entry visa or can i apply for entry visa now only and provide the extended work permit as and when i get it.

Either approach is viable in theory, although a new entry visa is probably more likely to be approved once the work permit extension has been approved.
