Extending a holiday work visa.

Hey

I'd like to extend my holiday working visa for anoher six weeks to finish off the current project, but have a couple of questions.

I'm assuming I have to reapply through the standard channels and get an HRSDC confirmation. Does my employer initiate this? If so, is this the first step of the procedure, or do I file my paperwork and wait for them to request an HRSDC?

Cheers

The first step in such a case, as youth program visas are not generally eligible for extension, would be to seek the Service Canada (previously HRSDC) Confirmation. Such a process is initiated by the employer with an application and suitable supporting documentation submitted to the Service Canada office responsible for the jurisdiction. If you are eligible for a Confirmation exemption, then you may may seek the work permit directly.
