Extend work permit in Quebec

Postby isomansys on Thu Aug 25, 2011 11:14 pm

Hi,

I work in Montreal, QC with a work permit which is valid for 11 months. Next month my contract will be extended for another 3 years.

I want to extend my work permit also, but I am confused because I don't know what documents do I need to provide and to whom. Do I need a new LMO from Service Canada, a new Quebec acceptance or what documents should i provide for extending my work permit. Your help is greatly appreciated.

The requirements for extension would be expected to be the same as the requirements to obtain your original work permit. The exception would be for a work permit issued under the Facilitated Processing of Information Technology Workers, which is no longer active in Quebec.

Unless you are eligible for a Labour Market Opinion Exemption such as NAFTA, for example, you will likely need a LMO, A CAQ, and a work permit.
