Hello. I have a variety of questions. The situation is, a girl from England wishes to stay in Canada for about 3-4 months and work to support herself while there. There won't be a prior job offer, she'd have to arrive and then seek out interviews.
Now, from what I can tell, she would have to interview, receive a job offer, then get some sort of confirmation from HRSDC, which, according to this site, can be subject to a delay of 45-60 days. This seems less than feasible if the position being applied for were something like waitressing (most probable in this case), as no employer is likely to offer to hire someone and then wait 2 months before they can start work. The interview would be difficult enough given that she wouldn't have a permit to work until AFTER an offer had been extended; usually they request a SSN or something. Also, are there any age restrictions?
I notice a lot of Australian and a number of British people seem to work in short term jobs in Whistler. How is that accomplished?
