Elgibility for Gov Health Insurance for Accomapanying family

Friends

I would be grateful if someone could advice me on the following.

I have received the approval for work permit along with Visitor Visa for my Family. Work Permit as well as visitir Visa is valid for 2 years. I am going to Canada to work in Halifax in Nova Scotia.

My question is regarding Medical Health Card provided by Nova Scotia government.

Is my family ,who is going along with me would be covered by government medical Insurance.

I asked this question to Nova Scotia Health authority and they replied as follows.

"As for your family, provided they are listed on your work permit as accompanying you and staying here while you work they too would be eligible."

Please advice that when the work permit will be issued at the port of landing, the immigration officer will include names of my family name in the work permit. Is this normally done or I have to apply separately

Thanks

Family members accompanying a foreign worker are identified as such in the immigration documentation issued at the port of entry. In order to avoid any confusion, specifically requesting such at the port of entry can help avoid any difficulties later on.
