I'm Canadian and am sponsoring my husband for PR from Brazil, where we both live at the moment. The problem is that the processing times have increased greatly and we would need to move to Canada way before his visa comes out. Can he apply for a temporary resident visa while we wait for the PR visa to proccess? Does it make a difference if he applies for a one entry or multiple entry temporary resident visa? Is there a much greater chance his temporary resident visa would be refused because he has dual intent? On what grounds would it be refused?
I was also wondering if he would be able to apply for a open work permit once we arrive in Canada?
