Current Work Permit - Partnership question

Postby sinique on Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:51 pm

I need an answer ASAP, PLEASE HELP ;)

I'm currently under a work permit in Canada (BC). I got married to a canadian citizen and we already sent my application for permanent residency but it has not been approved as of today. My question is if it is ok or not for me to form a partnership with my husband or if rather we'll need to form a corporation to avoid any violations to my work permit regulations.

Thank you very much in advance!

The method in which you register a business in Canada with your husband would not have a positive or negative impact on a work permit application.

David,

thank you for your answer, I really appreciate it. I have one more question if you don't mind. Do you know what is the exact definition of work? I mean I know I cannot work for any other company than the one for which I have a work permit, but is more thinking of the hypothetical situation of me being at home and picking up the phone and is a potential client for our family firm on the other line, is that a violation....just trying to figure out if is better to avoid those kind of situations.....

thank you before hand.
