I was on a postgraduate work permit visa, I got good offer from other company and I accepted it and in mean time I sent my document to immigration for my renewal of my work permit but after two days after I sent my application to Immigration, company person told me that he got emails saying that pls layoff all the temporary workers. My work permit is valid up to Dec 2007. Can I remain in Canada and look for a new job. What would be my current status of my visa ?

Look for another job, once you get another job, reapply and change the conditions of you work permit. Meaning from the lay off employer to the new employer.

If you have being on the postgrad for two years already, you have to get a labour opinion to get a work permit.

If you havent being on it for two years, then follow the first advise.
