Change Skill Type from Low Skilled to Highly Skilled

Postby cherry on Thu May 12, 2011 8:36 am

Hi David! I am currently working here in Alberta under NOC "C" and I have recently received a job offer and the category is Skilled or NOC "B". I need to apply now for a new work permit for the new employer. My question is, will the category from "C" to "B" or from LOW SKILLED to HIGHLY SKILLED become a factor for possible denial of work permit application? I hope the category has nothing to do with it. By the way, I have proofs such as certificates of employment with duties and responsibilities under NOC "B" just to support my application.

Please advice. Thank you so much!!!

A change in skill classification is not - in itself - reason for refusal. The candidate must however have the necessary education, training, and/or working experience qualifications to meet the requirements to work in Canada in the higher skill position.
