I have a query on Change of Work Permit from Open work permit to a closed one. I and my spouse are based in Quebec, I am a CAQ holder with a closed Work Permit and my wife has an Open Work Permit.

My wife is working with a Canadian Company since the last three months on her Open work permit, which is going to expire soon. Since my Work Permit is not going to get extended by my employer, my wife is looking forward to get her CAQ and Closed work permit with her company.

Can you please help us with the process involved with following questions?

1. For her CAQ filing does her company need to do anything special?
2. Once she has her CAQ, does she have to file a new Work Permit application OR does she need to file the application for "Change of conditions IMM 5553"?
3. Can I file for an Open work Permit on the basis of her CAQ?
4. Can we continue staying in Canada after the present WP expiry if we are able to initiate the WP process?
