car into canada on work permit

Postby amy on Mon Oct 29, 2007 9:17 pm

What is required of a US citizen coming to a Canadian port of entry to process a work permit (positive labor market opinion + job offer + application + money) in terms of bringing in a car? I understand that it is not required that I import my car, as I am considered a temporary visitor under a work permit, but what I want to know is what forms I will be asked to fill out, if I will need to pay any fees, if they will ask for registration or title, that kind of thing.

I am in the settlement phase of a divorce and the car is still registered in my ex's name. I am given the car in the settlement, but I'm not sure what the border agent might be asking for. I don't want to get turned around because of this.

Thanks for any response or guidance.

You will not have to fill out any forms, pay any money, show registration, etc. At least I didn't have to do any of that.

I asked about importing my car when I received my work permit and was told not to worry about it until I started looking at Permanent Residence.
