Hey i am from australia and am in canada now on a 1-year work visa. obviously the country is awesome and i want to extend it - is this possible? i have heard rumours that you can extend it for 6 months - is it do-able?

The category of visa would determine eligibility for extension. As a general rule, youth program visas (e.g., SWAP, SWHP) are not eligible for extension. Otherwise, eligibility for extension may require a Service Canada Confirmation if your are not eligible for an exemption from such.
