Can V 1 visa holder accept fellowship from a University?

Postby rajibkbc on Thu May 03, 2007 8:13 am

I have been invited to visit a University in Canada for two months. I have offered a fellowship from the University. The canadian embassy issued me V 1 Visa. However, I am little bit confuse that am I required any additional document (like temporary work authorization) to take fellowship from the University? I have clearly mentioned in my visa application that I am getting the fellowship. I will appreciate if someone clarify my doubt.

With regards

Assuming that this is a post-doctoral fellowship, there are provisions for eligibility for a work permit on the basis of such an offer from a Canadian institution. Such a fellowship would otherwise constitute work in Canada, but there may have been some aspect of the case which may have suggested to an immigration official that the business visitor provisions were sufficient.
