I am a US citizen that had a work visa issued from Sept 2009 to Nov 2010. I had obtained a LMO survey at that time. I am now working towards extending my work visa by six months. I mailed my application for the extension in the first week in October. The wait list times said 76 days at that point (I had no idea it would take that long!). I understand that I can continue to work under the same conditions, assuming that the extension will be granted, but I can not leave the country.
I am trying to plan a visit back to the US for the holiday season, but that 76 days puts me right around my travel dates, and that is if everything goes perfectly and quickly.
Is there any way to hurry this process along like going to an immigrations office or driving across the border? Does it ever go faster than the times posted?
If I dont get the extension by the time I want to travel, would I be able to bring all my documents (LMOS, extended offer letter) with me and do it at a port of entry upon returning? What are the chances that I will be turned away?
Thanks for any assistance!
