Australian in Canada, work permit finally went though

Postby JavaJava on Mon Dec 20, 2010 2:17 am

Hi,

I'd like to know what to do next. I started the paperwork way in advance (four months ago) for a temporary foreign worker to come (an Australian nanny). Her work permit finally went though a few days after she arrived here in Canada. My question is: does she have to leave the country in order to come back in again on a work permit, or can she just go to a local government office to obtain her work permit? She is here as a visitor until her work permit goes though, and she can't start working until she gets the permit, which just got approved. What is the best course of action to take?

Thanks in advance.

Once a work permit approval is granted, a candidate is generally required to appear at a port of entry in order to obtain the actual work permit. It would be an exception to the rule to grant such at a local CIC office.
