I wondering if it is possible to apply for PR from within canada ? I have been working on a visa for the last 3 years and we are thinking of going for PR.


Do you know if this is possible ?

Your eligibility for an inland application would be dependent on the category of application you intend to pursue. For example, if you are pursuing a spousal sponsorship, then the case can be processed within Canada. A Skilled Worker application would have to be processed at a visa office abroad, although you are able to remain in Canada during such processing.

i am in a similar situation, i came over here to canada, from UK, in feb 2006 on a temporary working visa, and am now settled and with full time job (in halifax, ns) and looking to apply for permanent residency.
i obviously dont want to leave the country and risk losing my job, accommodation, etc...
what is the process i would need to go through? how long on average would it take? can i extend my temporary status whilst the process is occuring?
