I found out from the CIC website that the consulate in Sydney deals with WP applications from the whole of Australia (and many other countries in this region). It might sound like a dumb question, but do I have to be present in the consulate for my application? Or would it be possible to do everything by post? I am in Melbourne at the moment, so it would make my life a lot easier if I don't have to be there physically.

The case can be submitted by mail or courier. If a personal interview is needed, then you may be required to travel to the visa office in person.
