applying for a temp work visa from inside canada

Postby lysa on Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:13 am

my boyfriend is coming to canada in a few months to visit me and hopes to find a job so he can stay. i'm assuming that it's ok for him to secure a job and apply for a permit at a US based embassy from inside canada, but i'm not positive... can you confirm this? also, if he is young and has limited professional experience, i'm concerned about his ability to find a 'skilled' job that will be approved for a permit. is it really as hard as immigration canada makes it look?

thanks; we're getting worried!

Your are permitted to seek employment while in Canada as a visitor, assuming that work does not commence prior to obtaining the necessary permission. Once a job offer is obtained, a determination of whether or not Service Canada Confirmation is required must be made prior to applying for a work permit. If so, then the Confirmation must be obtained first.
