Appling under Humanitarian or Compassionate grounds

Postby jdjames on Tue Sep 19, 2006 10:32 pm

Hi,

I have been reading the policy on Humanitarian/Compassionate applications. I was wondering if I would be able to apply under this and maybe speed up the process ?

I have been Living in Ontario for almost 4 years and have had a full time job on a work visa for the whole length. I have been supporting myself and partner the whole time, we are very established here.

Do you think that this would be possible ? as I do not want our work visa's to run out before the PR is complete.

Many Thanks

Jon.

The H&C provisions are highly discretionary. Based on the information presented, it is therefore very difficult to predict the viability of such a case. Given the typical duration of an inland application, however, it is reasonable to expect that extension of the work permit would be required.

Depending on the case, a sponsorship application submitted abroad may be a faster option.
