Alabama to Montreal

Postby stierwalt on Mon Feb 27, 2012 11:05 pm

good evening.

I'm a 23-year-old Alabama, US native taking a break from college classes this spring and summer. I want to harness this off-time by travelling and experiencing another culture. A friend in Montreal needs a sub-lease for about 6 months beginning in early April. He says he can get me a job in our field of fine-dining once I arrive (not necessarily before though). What type of work visa would be best for me, and how do I go about obtaining this? I have done some research, but want to get outside guidance as well.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

You should look into IEC Canada or youth programs. Other than these, the offer of work would be needed first, and the likely hood of success may not be terribly high, depending on the exact nature of the work that you pursue (i.e., I am assuming that the position that you refer to is that a of a waiter/waitress; for a Chef, for example, this statement may not apply).
