Hello,
My girlfriend and I just arrived in Canada from the States. We just drove accross the border and found a place to live. We intend to stay in Canada, have a family, start a business and eventually buy a house. We would like to do everything from within Canada legally.
1) She is 7 mo. pregnant - Should we wait until the baby is born before we apply for work permits and PR? Someone told it would be best to have the baby before announcing ourselves to the authorities.
2) We intend to get married - Would it be easier to get married before the baby's born and we start our applications or does it matter?
3) If applying as Skilled Workers do we have to work in our choosen trade? When can we start or buy a business? We have plenty of points to qualify.
4) As US Citizens are we automatically allowed to stay for 6 months? If we renew for another 6 months how do they know when we got here? Our Passports were not stamped upon entry.
5) I would like to start a business immediately, but i don't have a net worth of 300K to be in the Entrepreneur Class. Can I still start a business on a Work Permit?
6) Does having our baby and getting married here have any bearing on the PR process? Should we be able to stay here while we get approval?
I KNOW THIS IS A LOT OF ?'S. ANY RESPONSES WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU FOR YOU TIME.
